2021 Citizens Academy Canceled Due to COVID-19

October 30, 2020 – Out of an abundance of caution amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Midland has canceled its 2021 Citizens Academy.

The 10-week course, which provides residents with a behind-the-scenes look at local government through a series of classroom sessions and facility tours, cannot safely be conducted in-person. Given the operational needs of the academy, an online version of the program will not be offered.

“While we are saddened to cancel this popular program for the upcoming year, the health and safety of our residents and City staff is our highest priority,” said City Manager Brad Kaye. “We look forward to resuming Citizens Academy with our 15th class in 2022.”

Applications for the 2022 Citizens Academy will be available in November 2021.
