[ARCHIVED] Eastman Ave Project Update: Road to Fully Reopen by November 6

A black asphalt road with yellow painted lines

October 30, 2020 – A delay in programming the traffic signal controller in the Eastman Avenue reconstruction project area will result in traffic control barriers remaining in place along Eastman from W. Wackerly Street to Joe Mann Boulevard until late next week. The roadway had been expected to reopen by the end of October.

The signal cabinet that will operate the new traffic signal devices is expected to be installed on Wednesday, November 4. For safety reasons, some traffic control barriers cannot be removed until the new signals are fully functional. Barriers unnecessary to control traffic at this time will be removed prior to November 4.

All traffic control barriers are expected to be removed and the roadway completely reopened to traffic by Friday, November 6, approximately one week later than previously anticipated.

Heavy traffic delays exist in this area during construction, so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes around the project if possible. Businesses in the Midland Mall area and along Joe Mann Boulevard may also be accessed via Jefferson Avenue.

For more information, contact City Engineering at 989-837-3348 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/eastman. Project updates will be posted on this site, as well as on the City’s Construction Updates website at http://bit.ly/midlandroads and on the City of Midland Facebook page at facebook.com/cityofmidlandmi and on Twitter at @CityofMidlandMI.
