[ARCHIVED] New Survey: Share Input on Downtown Pedestrian Plazas

February 26, 2021 – As preparations for the spring and summer seasons begin in Downtown Midland, the Downtown Development Authority asks residents and visitors to weigh in on the return of pedestrian plazas through a new survey on E-CityHall.

In response to COVID-19 restrictions impacting dining and retail shopping, Downtown Midland created pedestrian plazas by closing two blocks of Main Street to vehicular traffic from June through September 2020. The pedestrian plazas provided additional space for outdoor shopping and dining and allowed visitors more room to safely physically distance outside.

The survey asks respondents to relay their experiences while visiting Downtown Midland during the Main Street closure last year, as well as offers an opportunity to provide suggestions to improve pedestrian plaza spaces in 2021. The survey should about 10 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via the City’s website at

Once completed, the results of the survey will be shared with the Downtown Development Authority, Midland Downtown Business Association, Midland City Council, City staff, and the general public.

Residents who do not have internet access or cannot complete the survey online may submit feedback and suggestions to Community Affairs Director Selina Tisdale at 989-837-3304 or
