Assistant Director of Public Services Marcie PostMarch 12, 2021 – The City of Midland is pleased to announce that Recreation Manager Marcie Post has been promoted to Assistant Director of Public Services effective March 1, 2021.

Post was hired as the City’s recreation manager in 2008 to oversee management and operations of Midland Parks and Recreation’s programs, facilities, and amenities after having served in similar roles in the cities of Clare and Livonia. In her new role, she will continue with her current responsibilities in Parks and Recreation while also taking on additional management duties in Public Services. 

Post holds a bachelor’s degree in community leisure services administration/commercial recreation and facilities management and a master’s degree in parks and recreation administration, both from Central Michigan University. She is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) through the National Recreation and Park Association and serves in leadership roles on boards for the Michigan Recreation and Park Association (mParks), Central Michigan University Department of Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Services, and the Midland Amateur Sports Capital Committee.

“Marcie’s extensive knowledge and experience in public service, coupled with her true passion for serving the Midland community, have made her an invaluable asset to our organization for the past 13 years,” said Director of Public Services Karen Murphy. ”We’re very excited to have her continued leadership in this new role.”

The announcement comes following the retirement of previous Assistant Director of Public Services Janet Yuergens in March 2021 and a management realignment within the City’s Department of Public Services.
