January 9, 2015 – A reading competition and Alfred Hitchcock are the focus of two unique programs coming up at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.
Registrations starts on January 12 for teams and individuals who want to participate in the Battle of the Books for Adults. The Battle will take place on Saturday evening, April 11. This fun competition requires contestants to read five specific books before the battle. The list is available at the library or on the library’s website at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/library. The cost to register is $10 per person. The deadline is March 9.
Classic movies directed by Alfred Hitchcock will be shown in the Library’s auditorium at 2 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month through May starting on January 13. The first feature is “The 39 Steps.” There’s no cost to attend.
