[ARCHIVED] Let the Wintertime Fun Begin! Midland’s City Forest Opens

January 9, 2015 – Take this opportunity to enjoy wintertime activities at Midland’s City Forest. City Forest will be open beginning Friday, January 9, weather permitting.

Recreation activities available include the toboggan run, sled hill, ice skating rink, cross country ski trails, and the chalet warming house.

CHALET HOURS OF OPERATION (Determined by weather)
Friday 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday Noon – 6 p.m.

The sled hill and skating rink are lit until 10 p.m. every evening even when the chalet is not open. A 1k beginner cross-country ski trail is lit from dusk to 9 p.m.

For safety reasons, steel runner sleds and snowboards are not permitted on the sled hill. In addition, personal toboggans will not be allowed on the toboggan run. These items and more are available for rent at the chalet:

• Toboggans rent for $6.00 per hour with a two-hour maximum rental.
• Sleds rent for $2.00 per sled per two-hour rental.
• Ice skates are $2.00 per pair for a two-hour rental.
• Cross country ski rental is $10.00 per two-hour rental for classic skates and $15.00 per two-hour rental for ski skates.
