April 23, 2021 – The City of Midland Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Great Lakes Loons, will host the 2021 Pitch, Hit & Run Competition on Saturday, May 15 at Dow Diamond from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The competition will feature pitching to a strike zone, hitting from a stationary tee, and running for time. The event is free of charge and will consist of four age groups (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14), with girls and boys competing separately. Age will be determined as of July 17, 2021.
Participants can compete at any time from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and winners will be notified after the event. Winners must be able to provide a birth certificate within three days of competition. Winners in each age group will move on to a regional competition with the chance to compete at a statewide competition at Comerica Park in July 2021.
Participants and their parent(s) will be required to wear a mask and abide by social distancing guidelines on the field to participate in this event. No metal spikes allowed. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. Signage will be posted at the field.
Pre-registration is recommended for the event. A parent/guardian-signed registration form must be completed. This can be downloaded prior to the competition at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/phr or on-site at Dow Diamond, 825 E. Main Street, Midland.
