[ARCHIVED] City Welcomes New City Engineer, Wastewater Director

July 7, 2021 – The City of Midland is pleased to announce the hiring of Matthew Lemon as City Engineer and Jared Driscoll as Director of Wastewater Services, effective Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Matthew (Matt) Lemon comes to the City with over 14 years of public and private sector engineering experience in Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and Illinois. He brings specialized knowledge in traffic management, congestion mitigation, utilities engineering, and transportation planning to the City’s Engineering team and most recently served as a project engineer for architecture and planning firm OHM Advisors. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minor in economics from Michigan Technological University and is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.).

Jared Driscoll brings more than a decade of public wastewater operations and management experience to the City’s Wastewater department. As an area manager with municipal utilities contracting firm Infrastructure Alternatives, he previously served as the licensed wastewater superintendent for the communities of Marlette, Sandusky, and Port Austin, Michigan, as well as oversight of the Port Austin Area Sewer & Water Authority (PAASWA). Jared holds an associate’s degree in applications technology from Community College of the Air Force and a bachelor’s degree in history from American Military University and possesses municipal wastewater certifications A, B, C, D, L2, and L1 and industrial/commercial wastewater licenses A-2b, B-2a, C-1c, C-2a, C-3a, C-2b, C-2d, and C-3b from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). He is also a veteran of the United States Air Force. 

“Both the City Engineer and the Director of Wastewater Services are critical positions that serve our community in invaluable ways,” said City Manager Brad Kaye. ”We’re very excited to welcome Matt and Jared and their broad experience to the City’s leadership team and look forward to their success in these roles.”
