[ARCHIVED] MCTV to Host Sports Broadcasting Camp for Teens

July 16, 2021 – The MCTV Network invites future media personalities ages 12 – 17 to sign up for its first ever Sports Broadcasting Camp held August 2 – 5 from 1 – 5 p.m.  During this camp, participants will be exposed to all aspects of sports broadcast on community media, including technical aspects of video production, live sports coverage, and being on-air talent. Campers will also experience with a variety of production equipment used in the creation of televised sports.

In addition to instruction from MCTV staff, production staff from Dow Diamond and ESPN 100.9-FM will provide campers with tours and insight into the world of professional sports commentary, sports radio operations, and game-day video operation. After camp is over, participants are invited to use the skills they have learned to assist MCTV staff and volunteers in creating a broadcast production of the Great Lakes Loons vs. Fort Wayne TinCaps game on Friday, August 6 at Dow Diamond.

Cost of the Sports Broadcasting Camp is $50, which covers the cost of instruction, daily snacks, a souvenir t-shirt, and membership to the MCTV Network for one year. Membership allows campers to use all the equipment, facilities, and services available at Midland Community Television.

Pre-registration is required in person at MCTV‘s offices in the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library (1710 W. St. Andrews Road) during regular business hours. Payment is required at time of registration via cash or check payable to MCTV Network. Register early, as spaces are limited.

The MCTV Network is a service of the City of Midland. For more information and office hours, contact MCTV at (989) 837-3474 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/mctv.
