[ARCHIVED] Register to Vote During National Voter Registration Month

Several red, white and blue round stickers with "I Voted" on them on a white background

September 24, 2021 – The Midland City Clerk’s office encourages all eligible residents to get involved in the democratic process by registering to vote during September in celebration of National Voter Registration Month.

Eligible City of Midland residents can register to vote in person at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Voter registration can also be done online via the Michigan Online Voter Registration System at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/RegisterVoter/Index or by mail up to 15 days before an election. Voters who register directly with the City Clerk’s office during the month of September will receive a special edition sticker to show off their voter status!

To be eligible to register to vote in the City of Midland, applicants must be a Michigan resident (at the time of registering), a resident of the City of Midland for at least 30 days when they vote, a United States citizen, at least 17.5 years old (at least 18 years old when they vote), and not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison. Remember, your voter registration address is tied to the address listed on your Michigan driver’s license and should be updated within 30 days of a move.

“Registering to vote is a quick, easy process that allows citizens to actively participate in building the future of our city, state, and country,” said Midland City Clerk Erica Armstrong. “Voting is one of the most patriotic activities you can do as an American and I encourage everyone who can register to vote, do so during Voter Registration Month!”

During registration, voters can also sign up to join the City’s Permanent Absentee Voter List to automatically receive an application in the mail to vote by absentee ballot prior to each election. Voters on this list can choose to vote either by absentee ballot or in person for each election. Residents who are currently registered to vote but are not on the Permanent Absentee Voter List can sign up at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/absentee.

For more information on voter registration, absentee voting, and other elections information for voters living in the City of Midland, visit the Midland City Clerk’s Office online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/clerk or call 989-837-3310.
