[ARCHIVED] Wheeler St Closed to Thru Traffic September 28 for Grading

September 27, 2021 – Wheeler Street will be closed to through traffic from Butterfield Drive to the US-10 ramp on Tuesday, September 28 as crews prepare the roadway for paving and concrete.

During the closure, both eastbound and westbound through traffic will be detoured around the construction area using Waldo Avenue, E. Ashman Street, and Swede Avenue. Wheeler will be open to one-way eastbound local traffic for those traveling to or from a destination within the construction zone.

Residents living in neighborhoods to the south of Wheeler Street within the construction area should exit their neighborhoods using Congress Drive to Whitewood Drive, while residents living to the north of Wheeler should use Foster Road to Brookfield Drive to Ardmore Street. Trotters Point residents should exit their neighborhood  using Butterfield Drive to Hollyberry Drive to Foster Road

Wheeler will reopen to eastbound traffic and remain closed to westbound traffic by the end of the day on Tuesday, weather permitting. Motorists traveling through the construction zone should drive with caution.

The Wheeler Street reconstruction and water main replacement project is estimated to be completed in October 2021.
