[ARCHIVED] Available Positions on DDA Board, Parks & Rec Commission

October 15, 2021 – Looking to make a difference in the Midland community? The City of Midland invites residents to apply for open positions on one of the City’s boards and commissions.

 Please see below for a description of available positions and each board or commission’s responsibilities.

Downtown Development Authority Board

  • One citizen-at-large position with terms expiring May 1, 2024 

The Downtown Development Authority Board oversees activities and initiatives in the Downtown District for the purposes of preventing deterioration in business districts, to create and implement development plans, to issue bonds, and to utilize tax increment financing to benefit the district. This boards meets bi-monthly on the second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m.

Parks & Recreation Commission

  • One citizen-at-large position with a term expiring June 30, 2023 

The Parks and Recreation Commission advises the City Council on parks and recreation matters. The commission considers and studies the reasonable needs of recreational facilities and activities in which the City might properly participate and recommends annual fee adjustments for recreation services.  Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Applicants may submitted their completed applications by email to cityhall@midland-mi.org; by mail to City Hall, Attention: City Manager’s Office, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, Midland, MI 48640; or by placing the application inside an envelope and putting it into the secure drop box located inside the front doors of City Hall. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, November 5.

Applicants must be City of Midland residents unless otherwise noted. No previous experience or professional experience is required to serve; however, applicants must be able to attend the scheduled meetings. Any applicants who have previously applied for a board or commission vacancy are asked to submit a new application.
