[ARCHIVED] Notice of Sanitary Sewer Overflow - November 2, 2021

November 2, 2021 – The City of Midland Wastewater Plant has notified the public of a sanitary sewer overflow event that resulted in the discharge of approximately 2,400 gallons of untreated sewage into the Tittabawassee River via the City’s storm sewer system.

A sanitary sewer leak in the area of Austin Street and Pershing Street discharged sewage into the storm sewer system, which flows into the river. The overflow was contained immediately upon discovery and, due to the location of the leak and the size of the overflow, there is no perceived threat to public health and safety.

In accordance with state law, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (ELGE) Quality and the Midland County Department of Public Health were notified of the overflow event.

For more information, please contact the City of Midland Wastewater Treatment Plant at 989-837-3500.
