March 25, 2015 – The City of Midland Engineering Department is ramping up for a busy spring and summer, with various construction projects planned for roadways in Midland.

Major street projects that could affect citizens’ travel routes are described below. Also, a complete list of 2015 projects, including estimated start and completion dates, is provided in the table below.

Major streets scheduled to undergo street reconstruction include E. Wackerly Street from Jefferson Avenue to Swede Avenue and E. Ashman Street from the US-10 Overpass to Rockwell Drive. The City anticipates street and lane closures during these projects, and detours will be posted if necessary.

A major street and utility improvement project will take place on Waldo Avenue from Wheeler Street to Diamond Drive. This project will involve the installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main to serve a future residential development north of the US-10 highway.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will conduct a major street reconstruction project on the US-10 Business Route. Eastman Avenue, Buttles Street, and Indian Street will be rebuilt from Jerome Street to 500’ north of Saginaw Road. The entire road surface along with curb and gutter and storm sewer will be replaced. The City will piggyback on the MDOT project to replace water main and sanitary sewer along a portion of the route.

Street reconstruction activities will also take place on several local streets: Moorland Drive from Woodbridge Lane to the end of Moorland Court; Valorie Lane from St. Mary’s Drive to Drake Street, St. Mary’s Dr. from Valorie Ln. to Drake St. and W. Meadowbrook Drive from Saginaw Rd. to Jefferson Ave. will undergo selective curb replacement, sidewalk repairs, ramp replacements, and street paving activities.

A current list of City projects and their estimated start and completion dates are included with this release.

This same list can be found on the construction updates web page on the City’s website (www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/engineering).
