March 23, 2022 – Just about every parent worries that their child may not fit in. For some children, navigating friendships and social situations can be a struggle. How can you help your "quirky" child succeed at school and with friends?

Dr. Mark Bowers from the Brighton Center for Pediatric Neurodevelopment will be answering your questions in a virtual Zoom program hosted by the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library on Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Bowers is the author of 8 Keys to Raising the Quirky Child: How to Help a Kid Who Doesn't (Quite) Fit In, available for checkout from the Library or by loan through the Michigan eLibrary (mel.org).

Dr. Bowers specializes in neurodevelopmental diagnoses, OCD/anxiety, and teaching 'quirky' kids and teens social skills. The author of two books, he has also developed a mobile app to help children and teens improve their social skills that has been downloaded in over 60 countries and is being used in elementary schools, high schools, and colleges around the world.

This virtual program will address the K-12 years in particular, but parents of younger children are also welcome to attend. Please register beginning at midnight on Tuesday, March 29 through the Library’s calendar at gadml.librarycalendar.com. Registrants will receive a Zoom link by email before the program begins on April 5.

The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is located at 1710 W. St. Andrews Rd and is a service of the City of Midland. For more information or to learn more about the Library, visit www.gadml.org
