[ARCHIVED] City Clerk's Office Seeks Election Inspectors for 2022 Elections

May 13, 2020 – The Midland City Clerk’s Office is seeking civic-minded individuals who want to serve their community this election season by working as an election inspector on an upcoming Election Day.

Election inspectors are critical to ensuring a smooth voting experience for Midland voters and an accurate and secure vote count in each election. Inspectors greet voters at their precinct on Election Day, walk voters through the process of the application to vote, verify voters’ identities, and distribute ballots.

To qualify as an election inspector, applicants must:

  • Be at least 16 years old;
  • Be a registered voter in the State of Michigan (if 18 years old or older);
  • Not be a candidate, a member of a candidate’s immediate family, or a challenger;
  • Be able to work at least 15 hours on Election Day (from 6 a.m. to after 8 p.m.);
  • Be able to sustain long periods of sitting and standing throughout the day; and
  • Deal with the public in a courteous, patient, and efficient manner

All election inspectors will be required to attend a short training class in July. Election Inspectors receive $12 per hour as well as breakfast and dinner on Election Day. Election inspectors are not required to be residents of the City of Midland to apply.

This year, elections will be held in Midland County on Tuesday, August 2 (Local Primary Election); and Tuesday, November 8 (Gubernatorial Election).

To apply as an election inspector, please complete the form located at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/ElectionInspector and return it to the Midland City Clerk’s office in person or by mail at 333 W. Ellsworth Street, Midland, MI 48640; via fax at 989-835-2717; or via email it to clerk@midland-mi.org.  For questions or more information, please contact the Midland City Clerk’s office at 989-837-3310.
