[ARCHIVED] City Plans Annual Independence Day Celebration

June 24, 2022 –Midland’s Independence Day festivities are back with a bang – literally! Join City of Midland Parks and Recreation for live music, food and beverage vendors, and an awesome fireworks display on Monday, July 4 beginning at 8 p.m. on the west lawn outside Dow Diamond (825 E. Main Street).

The free event will include music from Stone Street Revival, Midland’s favorite 80s rock band, beginning at 8 p.m. Vendors will be on-hand to offer food and beverages for purchase. At dusk (roughly 10 p.m.), guests will be treated to an outstanding Fourth of July fireworks display launched from the St. Charles softball diamonds. Fireworks will be visible from the outside grounds of Dow Diamond, Founders Park, Whiting Overlook Park, and other downtown locations. Please be aware that buildings and other permanent structures may obstruct views of the fireworks show. To find the best seat, please ensure that you have a clear, open line of sight to the river in front of you.

For safety purposes, St. Charles Street, Crissey Street, Benson Street, River Street, and Towsley Street will be closed from 6 a.m. on Monday, July 4 to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5. Crews will also close the Chippewa Trail between the Tridge and Whitman Drive, including the Chippewa Trail leg of the Tridge, on Monday, July 4 from 6 a.m. to midnight. Main Street/State Street will be closed from Cronkright Street to Ellsworth Street from Monday, July 4 at 6 a.m. to Tuesday, July 5 at 6 a.m. for pedestrian safety at Dow Diamond.

For the safety and enjoyment of all spectators, personal fireworks like sparklers, firecrackers, and other items – including alcohol! - will be prohibited in City parks. Please properly dispose of all trash items and do not leave them behind. As an additional safety measure, please consider leaving your pets at home. Midland Police Department will patrol parks during the fireworks show.
