[ARCHIVED] New Online Survey Asks for Riverfront Redevelopment Input

Bright Sunny Tridge - Mark Blackhurst

July 22, 2022 – How do you imagine the Downtown Midland riverfront in the future? The City of Midland and Midland Downtown Development Authority invite the public to help weigh in on a reimagined Tittabawassee Riverfront from M-20 to Poseyville Road via a new online survey.

The ‘Reimagine the Riverfront’ initiative aims to enhance the Tittabawassee River as a natural resource in Downtown Midland to create a public space that promotes leisure, recreational, and tourism opportunities for residents and visitors from all walks of life.

A brief online survey asks respondents to share how they currently use the Downtown Midland riverfront; what facilities and activities they enjoy most; and what facilities, activities, and events they’d like to see developed in this area in the future. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete and can be accessed via the City’s website at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/riverfrontsurvey.

Once completed, the results of the survey will be used by City staff, project consultants, the Downtown Development Authority Board, and the Reimagine the Riverfront advisory committee to develop preliminary design concepts and explore opportunities for a redeveloped Downtown Midland riverfront.

Attendees at the June 23 public input session related to this topic are invited to share any additional input or ideas they have imagined since that session. Residents who do not have internet access or cannot complete the survey online may submit feedback and suggestions to Community Affairs Director Selina Tisdale at 989-837-3304 or stisdale@midland-mi.org.

For more information for the Reimagine the Riverfront initiative, contact the Downtown Development Authority at 989-837-3330 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/riverfront.
