Notice of Sanitary Sewer Overflow - August 31, 2022

August 31, 2022  The City of Midland Wastewater Plant has notified the public of a sanitary sewer overflow event that resulted in the discharge of approximately 500 gallons of raw wastewater underground. 

At approximately 8 a.m. today, August 31, a sanitary sewer leak was discovered while work was being performed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2125 Austin Street. The overflow was contained and all necessary repairs made by approximately 9 a.m. No surface waters were impacted by the discharge and there is no perceived threat to public health and safety.

In accordance with state law, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (ELGE) Quality and the Midland County Department of Public Health were notified of the overflow event.
