October 25, 2022 – The City of Midland is currently investigating the presence of a bright-green substance that was released into the Tittabawassee River from a storm sewer drain on Main Street near State Street.

Regional Response Team 3 is on-site collecting samples from this sheen to determine its origin. Personnel from Dow Emergency Services are working with the City to place a contaminant-collecting boom across the Tittabawassee River near Bailey Bridge Road to slow the release and prevent further downstream migration of the material. Additional units on scene include the Midland Fire Department and Midland Township Fire Department.

This incident is not related to the Dowtherm A (biphenyl) release that was reported earlier today.
