[ARCHIVED] City Clerk's Office Special Hours, Ballot Reminders

November 4, 2022 – Registered voters in the city who wish to receive an absentee ballot for the November 8 General Election must submit their application by mail, via email, or in-person by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022.  The Midland City Clerk’s office will be open Saturday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow in-person absentee ballot voting, register new voters, and assist voters with questions. Voters who plan to vote by absentee ballot for the November General Election may vote in person in the Clerk’s Office until 4 p.m. on Monday, November 7.

Voters who plan to vote by absentee ballot are reminded to return their voted ballots to the Midland City Clerk’s office as soon as possible. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the City Clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

Voters living in the city limits should return their ballots to the City Clerk’s office by placing it inside the included white envelope with a purple stripe on the left side. The envelope must be signed by the voter in the appropriate area in order to be counted. For ballots returned by mail, return postage of approximately 70 cents (2 stamps) is required to mail back an absentee ballot. As the City Clerk’s Office recommends allowing a week mailing time for returning voted ballots by mail, it is recommended that any ballots that have not been mailed at this time be returned in person. A drive-up ballot drop box is available at the Larkin Street entrance to City Hall for registered voters in the City of Midland to submit absentee voter applications and ballots in a contactless format. Residents who live in a township outside of the City of Midland should not use this drop box and should return their ballots to their township clerk.

Voters should not use the payment drop box inside the doors of City Hall to return absentee ballot applications and ballots as they will not fit and may become damaged and unable to be processed.

To track if an application has been received, a ballot has been mailed, or if a ballot has been delivered back to the Clerk’s Office, visit the Michigan Voter Information Website (MVIC) found at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/.

For questions or further information on absentee ballots, contact the City Clerk’s Office at Midland City Hall, 333 W. Ellsworth Street or call 989-837-3310.  Information can also be found at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/clerk
