[ARCHIVED] Final Round of Leaf Collection Begins November 28

A tractor pushes orange and brown leaves down the street

November 18, 2022 – The City of Midland Department of Public Services (DPS) will begin its final round of curbside fall leaf collection on Monday, November 28.

Collection crews will begin in Area B and then proceed through areas C, D, and A. Once each area has completed the final round of collection, street sweepers will come through to clean up the streets, weather permitting.

Residents are reminded that both leaf collection and street sweeping operations are highly weather-dependent. Daily progress updates during collection can be found online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/leafupdate, on the Leaf Collection Hotline by calling 989-837-3405, and on the City of Midland’s Facebook and Twitter channels at @CityofMidlandMI.

Residents may continue to rake leaves to the street before their area has received final collection. Residents with leaves remaining after final collection must place them into Kraft paper yard waste bags or blue City yard waste bins for collection on their scheduled refuse collection day. Collection stickers for yard waste bags and yard waste bins are not required through the end of the yard waste collection season, which ends on Friday, December 9.

Please avoid parking on streets while crews and sweepers are working in your area and do not place any leaves in the street once final collection has occurred in your area.

Due to possible freezing temperatures, yard waste in bins may freeze, hampering their removal by collection crews. To help resolve this problem, please keep bins in the garage or another warm place until collection day.
