January 6, 2023 - Do you have what it takes to be king of the hill? Midland Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the 4th annual Midland Midwinter Chill Cardboard Sled Races at City Forest!
Races were previously scheduled for Saturday, January 22, but have been postponed due to poor weather conditions. The races will now take place on Saturday, February 25 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Midland City Forest, 2840 E. Monroe Road, Midland. The schedule of events is as follows:
- 1 p.m. – Group A (Riders 8U)
- 2 p.m. – Group B (Riders 19-17)
- 3 p.m. – Group C (Riders 18+ and families)
Awards will be given for the “King of the Hill” in each age group and division, as well as Best Dressed and Most Spirited in each division.
Divisions:
- Original category – Sleds made using cardboard, duct tape and glue; just the basics.
- Catch-all category – In addition to cardboard, glue, duct tape, and paint, supplementary soft material items may be used to enhance the aesthetics of the sled. Visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/chill for specific sled requirements and racing rules.
Preregister for the cardboard sled races online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/chill by Friday, February 24. There will be registration of the day of the event if space allows.
