January 13, 2023 – The City of Midland has unveiled a new program to recognize its staff members for providing exemplary service – and it’s inviting the community to take part in the process.

New this year, the City Strive Awards is an employee recognition program developed to encourage and recognize City of Midland employees that strive to exceed residents' expectations, exceed the highest standards of service to the community, and exemplify the City’s culture and values.

Areas of recognition through the program:

  • Above & Beyond
  • Safety First
  • Innovation
  • Teamwork
  • Integrity & Professionalism
  • Respect & Inclusion
  • Stewardship
  • Customer Service Excellence

Awards will be given on a periodic basis and nominations may be submitted by the public at any time. Award recipients will be determined by a recognition committee comprised of members of the City's Wellbeing Task Force, an employee-led group dedicated to workplace wellbeing and staff programming.

“When a City employee makes a significant impact through their work, it makes Midland a better community in which to live, work, and play,” said Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations Becky Schaefer. “Through the City Strive Awards program, we are excited to give residents a way to officially recognize the amazing public servants they have working on their behalf every day, as well as an opportunity for our staff to receive the recognition they deserve.”
