Downtown Midland Retires Tapped Beer Festival

March 20, 2023 – The Midland Downtown Business Association (MDBA) has announced that Tapped - Downtown Midland's Craft Beer Festival - will not return effective this year. The announcement comes as Downtown Midland prepares to release its 2023 events calendar.

A recent review of events offered by the MDBA concluded that Tapped's original goal--to generate significant foot traffic and support for Downtown businesses in an exciting event atmosphere--was no longer achievable given several restraints. The need for significant staffing resources to plan and execute the event, location changes, and the limited ability to source keg products made continuing to host the festival an unrealistic option.

"As we considered our event offerings and the many challenges our staff takes on to make it happen, we realized we could redirect our resources into producing other equally successful events that better align with supporting downtown businesses," said City of Midland Director of Community Affairs Selina Harris. "Downtown Midland is committed to providing unique events and outstanding experiences for all ages, and we invite the community to join us in seeing this year's calendar come to life."

The 2023 Downtown Midland events calendar features the return of popular events such as the Pedestrian Plazas Opening, River Days After Party, Taste of Downtown, Boo Bash, and The Commons Live Music Series, along with new activities coming soon.
