April 14, 2023 – With warmer weather just around the corner, the City of Midland has a wide variety of seasonal job opportunities open to fill. While skill sets and requirements vary by position, all jobs contribute to making the Midland community a vibrant, enjoyable place to live and work. Seasonal Horticulture Team Member – Parks & Recreation
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Make Midland beautiful! Horticulture crews maintain the landscaped areas owned by the City of Midland, including the beautiful displays in Downtown, Center City, and Midland Blooms. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Seasonal Recreation Team Member – Parks & Recreation

If you want to have fun and get paid for it, this is the job for you! Parks and Recreation is seeking enthusiastic individuals to help execute its many amazing summer programs and activities, including beach volleyball, summer softball, Walk Midland, the Middle of the Mitt Miracle League, and L.E.A.P. Position schedules vary with some openings providing evening and/or weekend hours.
Seasonal Laborer – Summer
This position is critical to keeping our community well-maintained and looking its best. Typical daily duties include grounds work, mowing, equipment operation and maintenance, weed control, fertilization and irrigation, light maintenance, painting, cleaning, trash pickup, raking and shoveling. This position is often physically demanding, requiring heavy lifting and exposure to the elements.
Engineering/Survey Aide – Engineering
If you’re into civil engineering, this is a great role for you! This position assist with tasks critical to public construction and infrastructure projects, including job site observation, survey staking, and as-built drawings. Typical schedule is Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Traffic Control Aide – Engineering
As a seasonal member of the City’s Signs and Signals team, this job keeps Midland moving in the right direction (literally). Daily tasks include installation and replacement of street signs as well as operation of mobile paint rigs to apply permanent pavement markings. Typical schedule is four (4) 10-hour shifts from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Temporary Assistant Event Coordinator – Downtown Midland
Get paid to party! (Ok, maybe it’s a little more detailed than that.) This position will assist in executing events in Downtown Midland from May – September, including The Commons Live Music Series, Adult Recess, Mini Golf on Main, and Pedestrian Plaza activities. Job duties include creating marketing materials, assisting with Downtown Midland’s social media presence, coordinating event volunteers, and promoting the awesome experiences Downtown Midland has to offer. Schedule is 25 – 35 hours per week, including some evening and weekend hours.
