Spring Free Yard Waste Collection Ends April 28

April 21, 2023 – The City of Midland’s free yard waste collection within the City of Midland ends for the spring season on Friday, April 28. Collection stickers for yard waste bags and bins will be required beginning Monday, May 1. 

Yard waste is collected curbside on residents’ regular weekly refuse collection day.  Yard waste must be placed in Kraft paper compost bags or blue, 95-gallon yard waste bins before being set at the curb. Acceptable materials include grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, and small twigs and branches. 

The cost for yard waste bag stickers and annual bin stickers are as follows:   

  • Yard waste bag stickers – $0.40 per bag
  • Yard waste bin annual sticker – $40.00 
  • Additional yard waste bin annual sticker – $17.00 for each additional bin at the same address
  • Blue City yard waste bin - $80.00 

Residents can purchase yard waste bins, annual yard waste bin stickers, and bag stickers via the following methods: 

  • Online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/publicservices (Visa or MasterCard only)
  • In person with cash, check, MasterCard or Visa at the following locations:
    1. City Hall:  333 W. Ellsworth Street
    2. Municipal Service Center:   4811 N. Saginaw Road

Both locations are open to the public Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • By mail using the form mailed to prior yard waste customers with a check payable to the City of Midland, PO Box 1647, Midland, MI 48641-1647.

Yard waste bag stickers are also available for purchase at local retailers including Ace Hardware, Family Fare, Gilroy's Hardware, Kroger, and Meijer.
