[ARCHIVED] Pitch, Hit & Run Competition Scheduled for May 6

April 21, 2023 – City of Midland Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Great Lakes Loons, will host the 2023 Pitch, Hit & Run Competition on Saturday, May 6 at Dow Diamond from 8:30 – 10 a.m. 

The competition will feature pitching to a strike zone, hitting from a stationary tee, and running for time. The event is free of charge and will consist of four age groups (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14), with girls and boys competing separately. Age will be determined as of November 15, 2023.  

The event is an open format and participants can compete at any time from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. with winners notified after the event. Winners must be able to provide a birth certificate within three days of competition. The top performers from each region will be selected to attend the Team Championship in their region. 

Pre-registration is required for this event. Register online at In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. Signage will be posted at the field. Participants should park on the west side of Dow Diamond and enter via the main entrance near the Loon Loft.
