[ARCHIVED] Free Fishing Event Saturday at Stratford Woods Park

June 9, 2023 – The City of Midland is excited to announce the first ever free fishing weekend at Stratford Woods Park, 3922 E. Ashman Street, on Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Volunteers will be present at the event to help kids learn to fish and fishing poles will be provided. Participants will also learn about Michigan’s natural resources through fun games and interactive exhibits. Proper Taco will be on hand to serve delicious bites for purchase.

Participants are asked to pre-register for this event by emailing (please provide a name and contact number), but pre-registration is not required. Participants can bring their own rods and bait and try their hand with no obligation to hold a Michigan fishing license.

This free fishing weekend is co-sponsored by the Midland Conservation District, Women of the Wild, Midland Parks and Recreation, and Mid Michigan Community Action.

For additional information or questions on the program, contact Midland Parks and Recreation at or by phone at 989-837-6930.
