[ARCHIVED] Lane, Road Closures Coming to Saginaw Road for Concept 5 Work

June 13, 2023 – Saginaw Road will be reduced to one lane each direction from Sturgeon Avenue to Dublin Avenue beginning Thursday, June 15 the Concept 5 Sewer Improvement Plan pipe upsizing project in this area enters Phase III.

Beginning Thursday, one lane of both eastbound and westbound traffic on Saginaw Road will be closed. One lane each direction will be maintained for through traffic, with both lanes shifted to utilize the south side of Saginaw Road.

On Friday, June 23 at 8 p.m., Saginaw Road will close to through traffic at the Main Street intersection. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Dublin Avenue, Wackerly Street, and Sturgeon Avenue until approximately 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. Saginaw will then reopen to through traffic.

Work on Saginaw Road is anticipated to be completed in mid-July, weather permitting.

When completed, the sewer upsizing project in this area will increase the size of 8,000+ linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe along Perrine Road, Saginaw Road, Main Street, and W. Sugnet Road.

As this is an extensive project spanning multiple construction seasons, work will be completed in phases as outlined below:

  • Phase 1 (In progress): Sugnet Road from W. Main Street to Valley Drive. Sugnet Road is closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.
  • Phase 2 (In progress): W. Main Street from Sugnet Road to Saginaw Road. Main Street will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.
  • Phase 3 (Begins June 15): Saginaw Road from W. Main Street to Perrine Road. One lane of eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase. During sanitary sewer placement in the eastbound lanes, a complete road closure will be in effect for a short duration.
  • Phase 4: Perrine Road from Saginaw Road to Moorland Drive. Perrine Road will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

Work on subsequent phases will not begin until substantial completion of the previous phase has occurred. The entire upsizing project is estimated to be completed in June 2024.
