July 14, 2023 – The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library invites the public to a week-long series featuring critically acclaimed Michigan writers July 24 – 28 in Midland.
The Michigan Authors’ Workshop Series will showcase the talents of Michigan writers and support the writing of prospective authors in the region. Ten authors from around the state will be in attendance to discuss and read their work, with many of these writers also teaching community writing workshops for writers of all ages. Both lectures and readings are free and open to the public and do not require registration. All writing workshops are free and open to the first 20 registrants. Event times and locations vary.
This year’s series will feature fiction writers Desiree Cooper, Brittany Cavallaro, and John Mauk; poet Jack Ridl; non-fiction author Jerry Dennis; memoirist Anne-Marie Oomen; and children’s/YA authors Shutta Crum, Gary Schmidt, and H.M. Bouwman. Author Penny Kittle will also provide a free public lecture on how to inspire young readers and writers inside and outside of the classroom.
