[ARCHIVED] Reserve Picnic Shelters at Midland Parks Beginning January 13

January 10, 2014 – Those interested in reserving a picnic shelter at select parks in Midland may do so beginning Monday, January 13, 2014.

On Monday, January 13, City of Midland residents only may reserve shelters, in person, from 7:30 a.m. until noon at the Midland Civic Arena, 405 Fast Ice Drive, located off Bay City Road between Rockwell Drive and Waldo Road, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation office, located in the Municipal Service Center, 4811 N. Saginaw Road. Reservations can also be made online after 1 p.m. on Monday, January 13.

Beginning Tuesday, January 14, anyone may reserve shelters in person at the Parks and Recreation Office, or by calling 989-837-6930 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Reservations can be made anytime online.

Non-refundable reservation fees for park shelters, which will help fund park maintenance and equipment, will be charged as follows:

  • Emerson Park (A-1): $35
  • Emerson Park (E): $35
  • Emerson Park (D): $55.00
  • Plymouth Park (B-2): $35
  • Plymouth Park (B-3): $35
  • Plymouth Park (A - South): $35
  • Plymouth Park (A - North): $35
  • Plymouth Park (A - Entire shelter): $65
  • Barstow Woods Park: $35
  • Stratford Woods Park: $35
  • Chippewassee Park: $35
  • Unsheltered Picnic Areas: $25
  • Addition of a Canopy: $25
  • Delivery of Picnic Tables: $20 (up to 5 tables)
  • Additional Tables: $4 each (if available)

From April 15 – June 30 only, daytime reservations that begin after 8 a.m. and end before 3 p.m. Monday – Friday are exempt from fees.

There are three shelters and five picnic areas in Emerson Park, three shelters and two picnic areas in Plymouth Park, and one shelter each in Chippewassee Park, Barstow Woods Park, and Stratford Woods Park. Each shelter and picnic area has an electrical outlet and is serviced by nearby outdoor grills.
