November 3, 2023 – The Midland City Modern Master Plan is ready for review – and the City of Midland invites all Midlanders to talk about it at a series of upcoming events.
Residents can visit Council Chambers inside City Hall, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, on Thursday, November 9 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. for an open house to review the Master Plan in person, provide comments, and talk with Planning Department staff. Physical copies of the plan will be available to peruse; however, a digital version can be found online at www.midlandcitymodern.com. This is a drop-in style open house and there are no set agendas or presentations, so visitors are able to come and go as they please during the open house times.
Other input opportunities for Midland City Modern are planned for the following dates:
- “One-on-one with a Planner”: Wednesday, November 15 at 3 p.m. at Live Oak Coffeehouse, 711 Ashman Street
- “One-on-one with a Planner”: Monday, December 4 at 9:30 a.m. at Grove Tea Lounge, 2405 Abbott Road
- Virtual Master Plan Live Q&A: Wednesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. on City of Midland Facebook page
More information on these events will be announced later.
The City’s Master Plan serves as the City’s official policy guide and strategy for community improvements and development over the next 30 years. Master plans help maintain a consistent vision in cities while directing redevelopment and change, increasing livability and neighborhoods, and transforming it into a more sustainable, innovative, accessible, attractive, and economically vibrant community. The City’s last comprehensive master planning process took place in 2005 – 2006.
The public comment period on Midland City Modern ends December 14, 2023. It is anticipated the plan will be adopted in early 2024.
