[ARCHIVED] City of Midland Joins Purchasing Group for Automated Distribution

December 30, 2015 – The City of Midland has officially joined the MITN Purchasing Group to help simplify their bid and Request for Proposal (RFP) distribution process.

The MITN Purchasing Group is one of BidNet’s 15 regional purchasing groups throughout the country that offers local government agencies an e-procurement solution. The City invites all vendors to register online with the Purchasing Group to access its upcoming solicitations.

With the Purchasing Group, vendors register online to access one centralized location with opportunities from 155 participating agencies throughout Michigan. By posting upcoming solicitations to the regional purchasing group, rather than the City of Midland website, the City hopes to make it easier for more vendors to access their documents and expand their reach to a more diverse vendor pool.

“Sometimes distributing a bid on our site just isn’t enough,” says Annie Thrush, Senior Procurement Accountant at the City. “Posting the bid for an entire regional community of vendors to see will help us reach more variety of qualified local suppliers. We like that with the MITN Purchasing Group we can quantifiably track the level of diversity.”

The City invites all local vendors to visit www.mitn.info and register to receive access to its upcoming solicitations as well as upcoming bids and RFPs from other public agencies participating on the Purchasing Group. Registered vendors will also gain access to a team of experienced customer service support representatives, and can upgrade their service to receive customized bid alerts, advanced notice of term contract expiration, and notification of a recently posted addendum.

For more information, contact Annie Thrush at 989-837-3331.
