[ARCHIVED] 2016 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Dates Announced

March 31, 2016 – The City of Midland Sanitary Landfill has scheduled four household hazardous waste collection dates for 2016. Disposal dates are as follows:

• Tuesday, April 19
• Wednesday, June 22 • Thursday, August 25
• Tuesday, October 18

On these dates, Midland County residents may dispose of household items that are considered hazardous, such as chemicals, oil-based paints and stains, pesticides, insecticides, household cleaning products, certain auto products, mercury, and medicines.

To take advantage of this free service at the Landfill, schedule an appointment with the Midland County Health Department (http://tinyurl.com/zd996ac or 989-832-6681). Be prepared to indicate the type and amount of materials you wish to drop off. Only residents with appointments will be allowed to drop off materials.

Electronic items such as cell phones, computers, computer screens, TVs, and other electronic devices that may contain mercury, plus old thermometers and fluorescent light bulbs, should be recycled whenever possible. Electronics are accepted daily at Midland Recyclers, 4305 E. Ashman Street, located at the Landfill entrance. They may also be accepted at Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

For more information, contact the Landfill at 989-837-6988.
