[ARCHIVED] Bike/Walk Midland: Bike to Work Week

May 6, 2016 – When is the last time you smelled the lilacs in springtime during your morning commute? Or pulled into the parking lot with a big smile on your face, pumped with endorphins and ideas? Or lost weight just by going back and forth to work every day? What if one day you left the car in the driveway and rode a bike instead?

May 16-20 is Bike to Work Week. To promote Bike to Work Week, Bike/Walk Midland is sponsoring a competition between Midland’s employers. Win a trophy and bragging rights for a year. For more information, go to www.midlandcommute.com.

You don’t need a special bike to ride to work; what you have in your garage is probably more than adequate. Midland’s bike shops stand ready to help you tune up your existing bike or get you on “just the right bike” if you think a new bike might be in your future.

The Internet has huge resources for bike commuters, including www.bikeleague.org. For more information on Bike/Wake Midland and the bike routes in Midland, go to www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/441/Bike-Walk-Midland.
