[ARCHIVED] Downtown Midland Redevelopment Process- Public Input Session Scheduled for Thursday, June 2 at the H

May 24, 2016 – The Midland Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will kick off the public input portion of the downtown Midland Streetscape Redevelopment Plan with a community input session on Thursday, June 2 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the ballroom of the H in downtown Midland.

The June 2 public input session will include presentations by the design firm SmithGroupJJR including a review of the current downtown Midland street configurations, a look at what other Michigan cities are doing to revitalize downtown districts and a public input and reaction activity.

Can’t attend in person? Concepts shared during the discussion will be posted to
E-CityHall, a new online public engagement platform introduced by the City of Midland. You will be able to review concepts and communicate your feedback to provide input to the process. Visit the city of Midland homepage at: www.cityofmidlandmi.gov and look for the E-CityHall link on the left of the page. Select the link for more information on E-CityHall and to receive email notifications as E-CityHall topics are posted.

Follow the progress of the downtown Midland streetscape redevelopment through the “Recent News” section found on the city of Midland home page at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov and through the Downtown Midland Facebook page.

Other dates to note and watch for additional information include:
• Friday, June 3 - Stop by downtown Midland for a pop-up, drop-in workshop and talk with SmithGroupJJR designers. Watch for information on exact times and locations.• Thursday, June 23, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. – Follow up public input session. SmithGroupJJR will present plan ideas based on initial public and stakeholder input. This will be an interactive workshop designed to solicit feedback on alternative plans, view plan renderings, perspective views, diagrams, etc. Watch for further information on location.
• Friday, June 24, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. - SmithGroupJJR will be working in downtown Midland refining preferred plans, documenting ideas into a single plan and developing a set of improvement goals. This will be a public open house format, drop by while the team is working to view designs and give comment. Watch for further information on location.
