August 5, 2016 – One hundred and seventeen golfers hit the links at Currie Golf Course in Midland on Monday to participate in the World’s Largest Golf Outing, an annual nationwide benefit to support military veterans and their families. Every year on the first Monday in August, over 150 Billy Casper Golf courses across America welcome golfers to raise funds, honor military members and veterans, and enjoy a friendly competition.
“This is Currie’s third year participating in this event, and it’s a great honor for us to get involved and raise money for such a worthy cause,” explains Currie Golf Course General Manager Paul Milholland. “The turnout for this event at our course and the amount of money we’ve raised speaks highly of Midland and how much veterans mean to our community.”
The 2016 event beneficiary is the Fisher House Foundation, which provides cost-free travel assistance and lodging arrangements where military and veterans’ families can stay while a loved one is receiving medical treatment. This year’s fundraising goal was to match the $1 million raised in 2015; however, the total amount raised for at this year’s event was not available at press time.
