[ARCHIVED] “Our Founding Fathers” Program Series at the Library Starts September 22

September 16, 2016 - Join the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library this fall as it pays tribute to several of the larger-than-life personalities and events that shaped our country with a series of four free programs. The series, entitled “Our Founding Fathers,” will look at how those people and events still have an effect on where we are today.

The series kicks off on Thursday, September 22, as Ryan Petersen from Delta College will explain “Who Were the Founding Fathers?” Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Hamilton and the other founders were not shining stars, but imperfect human beings – much like us – who nevertheless achieved political greatness. While often viewed as a quarrelsome bunch, this group of lawyers, merchants, politicians, and military men were able to transcend their differences and forge a new nation.

Other parts of the series will focus on Thomas Jefferson, John and Abigail Adams, and Alexander Hamilton. More information on upcoming programs will be shared prior to each event.

All programs will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Auditorium on the following Thursdays: September 22, October 6, November 3, and December 1. Each event is free and appropriate for all age levels from students through seniors.
