September 30, 2016 – Another of American history’s key players will take center stage in the next program of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library’s “Founding Fathers” series on Thursday, October 6. History lecturer Gregory Havrilcsak of the University of Michigan-Flint will present “Thomas Jefferson: Conflicts & Ambiguities.”
Havrilcsak’s talk will highlight Jefferson the statesman, the writer, the scientist, the student of philosophy, and his role in the formation of our country. As crafter of the Declaration of Independence, the first Secretary of State, and the third President of the United States, Jefferson’s ideals of democracy, are the basis for much of our government today.
This program will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Auditorium. The final two programs of the series will be offered on Thursday, November 3 and Thursday, December 1. Each event is free and open to the public.
