November 11, 2016 – At this time, all areas of the City have received at least one curbside collection of leaves. Due to the late leaf fall, the City will not begin the final round of leaf collection at this time but will continue doing spot curbside leaf pickup throughout the City.
Once the trees have lost the majority of their leaves the City will begin the final round of leaf collection, weather permitting. An additional press release will be issued at that time. The final round of leaf collection will begin in area B and then proceed to areas C, D and A.
Residents should continue to rake leaves into the street, leaving a one foot gutter space between the leaf pile and the curb to allow a path for water to properly drain from the street. Please do not place brush, sticks, branches or refuse into curbside leaf piles as this creates a safety hazard for crews and equipment.
Residents on major streets should rake leaves onto the outlawn (between the sidewalk and curb) in front of their homes. Major streets include: Ashman St. (Circle to Main), Bay City Rd., Buttles St., Eastman Ave., George and Cronkright Streets (between Indian & Ellsworth), Indian St., Isabella St., Lyon Rd., Main St., Patrick Rd.(Indian to Waldo), Rodd St., and Saginaw Rd.
You can track the progress of the leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection hotline at 989-837-3405, watching the MGTV-188 message board, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, or visiting the City of Midland website at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/leafupdate.
