Peter Schwarz was hired as the Director of Water Services in September 2019, having returned to the City of Midland after serving as the General Manager of the Saginaw-Midland Municipal Water Supply Corporation. He began his career with the City as a water treatment plant operator in 2004 and was promoted to operations supervisor in 2009 and water plant superintendent in 2014. Previously, Schwarz also worked as an environmental compliance analyst for the City of Flint and as a research assistant at Dow.
Schwarz holds an F-1 Drinking Water Treatment certification and an S-1 Drinking Water Distribution Systems certification from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Saginaw Valley State University. He is also a member of the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association (MI-AWWA) and serves on the organization’s Education & Training Council.
